Christmas in July!
DWIGHT HAS BEEN FOUND!!! See below!
Dwight (our elf) couldn’t wait until Christmas to have some more fun, so he is out there somewhere just waiting to be found. The person who finds him will receive $3,000! (I know, right!)
Here’s how it works:
- Our little Hurley Elf is hidden, and hidden WELL, somewhere in a public location within the Cumberland Valley.
- We will release clues over the next few weeks via social media and our website until the elf is found.
- The rule-abiding person who finds the elf will win $3,000!
- In order to win, you must play by the rules below, and be the first person to send us a selfie with you and the elf, and then bring the elf to us during our regular business hours (M-F, 8am-4:30pm).
Rules
- Do not trespass on private property.
- Stay safe: you will NOT need to go anywhere that could cause harm. Do not climb, dig, or otherwise hurt yourself or deface our public lands.
- In order to win: send us a selfie with you and the elf where/when you find him. (That way we can share online that he has been found.) Then bring the elf with you to our office at 2800 Buchanan Trl E, Greencastle, PA 17225 during our normal business hours (M-F, 8am-4:30pm).
Please Note: The winner will be required to fill out a W-9 and bring their Driver’s License for us to make a photocopy in order to receive their cash prize.

Clue 1: This clue narrows down the Cumberland Valley to only the Pennsylvania portion:
The excitement makes us quake, (William Penn, who founded Pennsylvaina, was an influential Quaker)
it’s a clue – but make no mistake…
This is just a state of being, (*state* – giving you the state to look in)
did you catch the meaning?
Key words, and some key phrases, (Pennsylvania is the Keystone State)
Off the path, a new trail blazes. (He is not on a main trail)
Hunt him up and down, (You’ll have to climb up to find him, but he was low to the ground.)
$3,000 is not easily found!
Clue 2: This clue reveals that Dwight was somewhere off of the Appalachian Trail (AT):
Baxter, George, Springer, and Tom, (Baxter State Park, George Washington National Forest, Springer Mountains, and Jefferson National Forest are all along the AT)
They’ll help you out as you go along.
Cling to the clues, they’ll help you choose, (Clingmans Dome is also along the AT)
Two by six with lovely views. (The markings/blazes that mark the AT in PA are white, and 2″ wide, by 6″ long)
Clue 3: This clue brings the focus zone closer to the location by referencing Pen Mar.
Don’t resort to drastic measures (Back in 1877 Par Mar was a resort/amusement park)
that may mar your good name. (*Mar*)
Pen in hand, you’ll find our treasures (*Pen*)
when you conquer our game. (Attractions included an arcade…)
It’s just a small concession, (…and a concession stand…)
you must train your mind, (…a miniature train AND the “Blue Mountain Express” traveled from Baltimore to Pen Mar)
Don’t overlook this hint: (…there was also a scenic overlook)
Dwight is nearby to find! (He is not exactly at Pen Mar, but close!)
Clue 4: This clue could help you triangulate Dwight’s location if you use a map to help.
About 17.5 from G, 21 from C, (17.5 miles from Gettysburg, and 21 miles from Chambersburg)
18 from H, and 7 from the ‘B. (18 miles from Hagerstown, and 7 miles from Waynesboro)
Four paths lead to Dwight,
Make sure to calculate it right.
Redbuds and a humble root, (to Dwight’s NWish there is a road called Redbud Court, and to his NEish there is Humble Roots Mushroom Farm)
Towers rise where vistas suit. (and to Dwight’s W there is Buena Vista Rd)
We were prepared with a few more to narrow it down and zone in, but our winner didn’t need them! Once, again:
Jake Leaper, you are AMAZING! These were some of our toughest clues! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
